Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his commitment to local government development by inaugurating a new modern local government house and staff training school at the Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. This marks the first significant infrastructure project for the local government system under his administration, dispelling allegations of undermining the local government structure.
Speaking at the commissioning, Governor Makinde announced the planned conversion of ad-hoc workers across local governments in the state to permanent staff. He disclosed that he had directed the Commissioner for Local Government to establish guidelines for the conversion process within four weeks.
The governor emphasized his administration’s ongoing collaboration with local government authorities, assuring that this partnership would continue to bring the benefits of democracy directly to the grassroots.
Additionally, the governor noted that this new building represents the beginning of a broader renovation plan for the Secretariat’s structures, aimed at enhancing the working environment for local government employees.
